Becca Broughtonteacher

    Becca Broughton practices and teaches personalized yoga, Vedic chanting and is dedicated to getting people connected to what lights them up—using yoga, art, sound, and performance. In 2009, she co­founded Hosh Yoga, a Brooklyn non­profit studio focused on reducing barriers to health and wellness through outreach and affordable classes. She also developed a program that brought yoga to children at an underserved public school.
    Since moving to Nashville in 2013, Becca has taught mind­body practices as part of the integrative team at the Osher Center for Integrative Medicine and with clinical research conducted by Dr. Gurjeet Birdee at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Along with this work, Becca teaches at Nashville State Community College, and has been instrumental in developing of Yoga Well Institute’s teacher training program, where she trains and mentors students. Becca has more than 1500 hours of training in the Desikachar method and continues to further her studies with her mentor and through Yoga Vaidya Sala’s therapy training in India.
    Becca is sustained by her practice, the living earth, and the inspiration and collaboration of mentors, friends, colleagues, and her family. Becca works to cultivate a deeper relationship with students to learn what sustains and helps each individual get and stay connected to what “lights you up.”
